I think I’m not alone in this when I say that I love love love Mexican flavors. My absolute favorite place in the world to go is Tacos 4 Life. It is relatively new to our area and I could go there every day. Well, I could go there every day … if I weren’t trying to limit my carbs.

I took the kids to the movie, and for the first time in many decades I did not get a movie popcorn. It took a tremendous amount of will power, but I was able to make it through the entire movie with just my bootleg bottle of water.

Afterward I treated myself and the kids to lunch at Tacos 4 Life. I knew I was cheating a little because tortilla chips are pretty high on the GI index. I’ve read how if you’re going to go for something with a higher GI load you should pair it with a protein and fiber to help your body “slow burn” it. Man, did Tacos 4 Life deliver on that one.

The nachos supreme tray came with chicken, roasted onions, bell peppers, pico de gallo, black beans, a healthy blob of guacamole and a spray of sour cream. There was a base of their queso on the bottom, which was another no-go. Crap. I think I really did blow it on lunch today.

Maybe next time we go I’ll go for one of the salad bowls instead…
